Dalyan;
a fishing village by a river, a few minutes by water taxi from a stunning beach where blue waves play against golden sands. Dalyan is set upon the banks of the Dalyan River; the village of Dalyan is somewhat peaceful holiday another area growing with the tourism industry. In Dalyan you can visit the famous Lycian Rock Tombs, bathe in the sulphur mud baths. There is water sports on the beach, other are also available in the area such as mountain biking, quad biking, horse riding and for the really adventurous paragliding at Olu Deniz giving you stunning views over the lagoon. The area is also wonderful for walking and we recommend a stroll from Hisaranu or Ovacik to the ghost village of Kayakoy, a village abandoned by the Greeks with over 3,000 uninhabited houses. You can also find the ancient city of Caunos here with its ruins dating back to the 3rd Century.
For birdwatchers and those who enjoy fishing, this is ideal, there are over 100species of birds as well of course as the native stork and a huge variety of fish are also found.
Iztuzu divides the delta and stretches for 5km east from the south of the channel. With fine sand, and the shallow turquoise sea Iztuzu beach is the ideal seaside spot. This is where the endangered Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta Caretta) and the green turtle have returned to lay their eggs since the beginning of time between May and October.
In the evenings you take a walk along the riverbank and find one of the many lovely waterside restaurants. The local fish in Dalyan is excellent, especially when accompanied with a chilled beer or a nice bottle of white wine as the setting sun sends shadows chasing through the nearby rock tombs. You won’t find any loud nightclubs in Dalyan but the resort still has plenty of bars and restaurants. Dalyan is relaxing and calming if that’s what you’re after.
