Shopping in Sarigerme If you are staying in Sarigerme its best to know where to shop as alot of places will charge more than they need to compared to supermarkets etc. In the village you will see lots of shops called supermarkets but they are not supermarkets as we know them just mini markets. If you want items such as cigarettes, sweets and crisps etc these are the same price al over. If you want to a little shop and dont mind paying a little extra (this varies on which market you use, personally I find the market at the top end of the village just past the mosque and the village school has a good variety of stock and decent prices and the one at the other end of the village Obliquxe is quite good as well. If you want to do proper shop then use the supermarkets in Ortaca or Dalaman, there is a good selection to chose from depending on what it is you want. I've found that if you just want basic foods such as rice pasta etc. then Bim is probably the best they dont have alot of variety on other foods and is probably the most basic supermarket but the prices for those sorts of foods are lowest (not that this food is expensive anyways; I buy alot of bulk foods and for 5kilos of past it only costs about 7TL) For the best variety and good prices I always go to Şevikoğlu for my main shopping, the shop in Dalaman is bigger than the one in Ortaca but some stuff is slightly more expensive here, but they have started doing some English foods such as Bisto and brown sauce and now they even have chinese sauces prawn crackers and noodles (yum) they are more expensive than the UK a tub of Bisto standard size is approx. 6TL you can get Heinz baked beans but before you pay something silly like a few pounds for them try the Turkish brand they are just as good and cost just over 2TL. Both these markets also have cafes with great value food; a burger or a half toasted loaf of bread will cost you approx. 1.50TL. The Dalaman branch also has a big trampoline, some swings, a slide and a little enclosed play area with a playhouse and some toys for children under 5 and the branch in Ortaca has a small play area for young children. If you want to really bulk buy on items such as soft and alcholic drinks, sweets, packet coffee, chocolate bars and snacks I would recommend going to the Cash and Carry in Ortaca to get there, go into Ortaca, just after entering the main street, turn right just before the bus station go up the road and it forks off to the right and you will see Şevikoğlu there go a little past that towards the top of the road (its only a small road) you will then see a shop with metal bars over the windows (and normally a stack of beer crates) thats the Cash & Carry it is only a small one but well worth going to and is called Karaçelik, - Toptan Gıda Madderleri. You can ring up as well on 0252 282 06 10
